About Tocotrienols
Vitamin E is a family of eight naturally occurring compounds: four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. Each group includes alpha, beta, gamma, and delta forms, distinguished by small differences in their molecular structure.
Tocotrienols have three double bonds in their molecular tails, while tocopherols have none. These structural differences distinguish the two groups within the vitamin E family.
Annatto (Bixa orellana) is a tropical plant with reddish seeds and is a natural source of delta- and gamma-tocotrienols. Delta-tocotrienol, sometimes abbreviated as DT3, is one of the four tocotrienol forms.
